Power Flush — FAQ
What is a power flush?
A power flush is a deep cleaning process for your central heating system. A high-flow, low-pressure pump circulates powerful cleansing chemicals through your radiators, pipes and boiler to remove sludge, limescale and rust that has built up over time. The system is then flushed with clean water and a long-term inhibitor is added to protect against future corrosion.
How long does a power flush take?
A power flush typically takes between 6 and 10 hours for an average-sized London property (6–10 radiators). Larger properties or heavily sludged systems may take longer. We will assess your system and give you an accurate time estimate before starting.
How much does a power flush cost in London?
A power flush for a typical London home starts from £350 for up to 6 radiators. Additional radiators are charged at £30–£40 each. We include a magnetic system filter fitted free of charge on all power flush jobs, which protects the system going forward.
Will a power flush damage my boiler or pipes?
No. A power flush is carried out at low pressure, which is safe for all types of heating systems and boilers. We use professional-grade equipment and manufacturer-approved chemicals. If we believe your system is too fragile for a power flush (e.g., very old microbore pipework), we will tell you honestly before we start.
Is a magnetic filter fitted after a power flush?
Yes. We always recommend and fit a magnetic system filter (such as a Magnaclean or Fernox TF1) after a power flush. This catches any remaining particles and prevents future sludge build-up. The filter is included in our power flush price.
Do I need a power flush before a new boiler is installed?
Most boiler manufacturers require a power flush — or at minimum a chemical flush — before installing a new boiler. Fitting a new boiler to a sludged system can void the warranty within months. We recommend a power flush at the point of new boiler installation for all properties over 5 years old.
